Dec 15 - Starting to work on the mechanical aspects of the build this past week. Our cabinet guy, David Contardi at Superior Cabinets kindly came by to mark out the layouts for the kitchen and bathrooms for the plumbing, heating and electrical. In addition, I finalized the plumbing fixtures with Heidi Voogd at Robinson Lighting and Bath so that our plumber (Nick Liviniuk) and heating guy (Darcy deChamplain) were able to come this week. Both have started the rough ins for the plumbing and duct work.
You can see from the front and back views that the roofer finished installing the shingles on the house.
You will also see that the front door has arrived, albeit I had a construction door delivered to preserve the actual door that will be installed in the final stages.
And the garage was started on Friday...
Tomorrow I will be doing a walk through with Barry Voogd (yes related to Heidi from Robinson above, this was just pure coincidence!) Coronet Electric for the lights and electrical wiring et al.

It's been so cold, but...
Dec 8 - It was a chilly chilly week. I think it was -35 one morning with the windchill which make it quite difficult to work outside. So my dad and cousin decided to frame the basement and take advantageous of the time and the heater in the basement. We hadn't planned on doing the basement right away but well, it makes sense to, so this is the progress
And the roofer came and the shingles are almost done on the house!
And last but not least, the exterior insulation and Tyvek are still in progress. My cousin had to leave back for Toronto this morning so if you know of anyone that can help with this task and the framing of the garage (the foundation is already done and backfilled), let me know!
Oh, and the inside is definitely coming along!

getting ready to seal the house up!
Dec 1 - so they've started to put the tyvek on the exterior, almost done the roof, and just a few windows left to install and the front and mudroom doors to arrive and then we are ready to seal up the house for the cold weather about to arrive after tomorrow!
Just a few more windows to install and tyvek is started!

It's been cold but still progress!
Nov 30 - well, it was a cold one since my last post and Yes, I have been delinquent on posting an update. It didn't' help that I forgot to bring my camera with me last weekend when I was helping "clean" the house so I never got around to posting an update last weekend. I do have some photos from last weekend on my Blackberry; however, I didn't get around to getting them off and posting them, so....I will give you an update for this weekend instead. So since my last post quite a few things have happened, for instance, Gienow delivered the windows and A. Clarke Roofing has delivered the shingles. Most of the windows have been installed with a few to go and the roofers will be coming next week to put on the shingles, the plumber should be coming on Wednesday to install the shower rough ins, so I spent today reviewing and revisiting a couple of plumbing places (Emco and Bartles and Gibson) and am awaiting quotes. I also spent some time checking out Black Friday shopping and managed to save about $1,000 on a Samsung washer and dryer from Lowes and went looking at Trail and Coast Appliances as I will soon have to decide so we can order our kitchen cabinets, eeks! Here are some recent photos of the basement and elsewhere for your viewing pleasure!
